1st Wednesday 1st Wednesday is a non-confrontational outreach and fellowship event that takes place on the first Wednesday of the month during the school year. These include all grades from 7th to 12th and will take place in a variety of locations, typically from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. These are great events for bringing friends who would never come to a regular youth group setting or church setting.
Deeper Deeper is a monthly event, following youth group that allows senior highers to stretch their faith by talking through some deeper topics that wouldn’t fit into a regular youth group night or just enjoy fellowship with each other. They are also encouraged to ask questions about areas of life, things they are studying in the Bible, etc. It normally takes place at a local restaurant like Applebees in Chanhassen or Beef O’ Brady’s. This take place during the school year youth group schedule.
Regular Youth Group Regular Youth Group will typically take place on the 2nd , 3rd, and 4th Wednesdays of the month. During youth group, students are split into two age categories, with 7th-9th meeting from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, while 10th-12th meet from 7:45pm to 8:45pm. These Wednesdays vary from studies on a specific book to typical studies of things that students are dealing with in their everyday lives. During this time, you can expect games, prizes, small group settings, large group settings, and some sort of object lesson. |

Sunday School/ Christian Education Christian Education happens every Sunday at 9:30am in the Teacher's Lounge of the Waconia High School. This is for 7th graders through seniors in high school. This takes on a youth oriented Bible study, as the youth walk through the Bible book by book.
Breakfast Club This is a group that will start in the ’07-08 school year where students will meet on Tuesday mornings before school for breakfast and a time of mentoring. These students will be challenged at a high level and sign a contract to participate in this program. These students will also be groomed into leaders in their respective youth groups.
Summer Ministries During the summer, we take a different approach to ministry by focusing more on peer group interaction, service projects, mission trips, event nights, and trips such as Sonshine. You can find more information on the summer ministries in that specific section on the website. |

Parent’s Meeting Each year we will have three parent’s meetings (Fall, New Year, and Summer). These meetings will be used to educate the parents about the ministries that the Oakwood youth group offers and the reasons each one is implemented. This will also be a time to field questions and feedback on ways to improve the youth group. All parents are invited or anyone interested in knowing more about the ministries of the youth group. |
