Dear Parents,
It is our great privilege to have the opportunity to partner with you as you fulfill your God given role as the primary teachers and modelers of God’s truths to your children. The Bible tells us to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.” These words “shall be on your heart.” Then it says, "And you shall teach them diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.” (Deut. 6:5-7) As you seek to treasure God, love God, and grow in your wisdom of the Scriptures, we pray that you will also seek to instill that passion and love for God in your children.
Each family who enrolls their children in Sunday school will be given a “partner-with-parents” handbook. We provide you with this handbook with the hope that it will be a means of equipping you to lead your children to the fulfillment of their greatest need, to know and cherish the infinite value of God.
This handbook contains a “parent take home sheet” for each of the lessons your child will be studying throughout the year. It also includes a letter that introduces you to the content of the material that will be taught.
Oakwood Community Church is committed to “walk alongside” you and enable you to train your children. Our prayer is that Oakwood will successfully empower you in your responsibilities, and that the children in the church will be, by God’s grace, mightily blessed.
